After Sun

The relaxing herb of Peppermint offers many benefits to its user. It is one of the most beneficial oils for the summer season because of its cooling effects. My favorite way to use Peppermint in the summer is after we’ve been in the sun all day. Okay, I’ll be honest- my husband and daughter have the most perfect skin for summer and they don’t burn, they just get significantly more tan – I’m the one with the pale white skin who burns even with my best attempts of sunscreen.

Since I tend to get sunburn easily, there isn’t much aloe can do to soothe my skin. Enter in my essential oil spray.

I like to place the essential oil in first, then the coconut oil, witch hazel and top off with water. Give it a good shake, and spray as often as necessary. When I have a pretty severe sunburn, I usually spray it on about every hour the first day/night and dwindle down to 1-2 times a day after that. Not only does the peppermint have a cooling sensation, but the lavender helps promote skin healing and the melaleuca makes sure I don’t get an infection.
