Phone a Friend

Do you remember the show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”?. At the risk of “dating” myself- I remember it from when we used to still have cable. Remember the lifeline options- one was “Phone a Friend”? Where you reached out to a friend for help in a dire situation- okay maybe struggles in mommyhood aren’t like trying to win a million dollars- but stay with me here.  The purpose is that you need help and you call someone. I used to be able to call people all the time before kids- and now sometimes I get so swept up …

How to Go to Bed Earlier

Sleep Deprivation can be detrimental to moms suffering with anxiety or depression. We need time for our bodies to rejuvenate and recoup each day. We cannot operate in a constant state of stress in order to truly thrive and heal. I want to share with you some of my top tips for going to bed earlier! Partnership Parenting

If you’re a single mom- this blog isn’t for you. But if you’re NOT, then keep reading on. I work with women from a variety of backgrounds, but there seems to be ONE common theme present among them all- no one wants to have their spouse step in and help or they feel guilty asking them to.  The reasonings vary from: they work hard all day and they want them to relax to- they don’t think they can handle it. Well here’s where I dose you with some tough love. You weren’t the only one in the relationship who had …

Get out of the House!

I never realized how much I feared leaving the house until I had my daughter. I always used to chalk it up as me being lazy. For example: I’m hungry- instead of going to the store and getting what I really want, I ordered Chinese or Thai (because those are the only two places that deliver where I live). I used to think that was just me being lazy, too lazy to get my ass in the car and drive to the story. And then I had a kid. Isn’t that how all great stories start? Once I had a …

When Kids are Off Their Schedules

We’ve traveled for 3 weeks out of the last 6. That is a LOT for a two-year-old who has a pretty good routine. When we’re home – our day normally looks like: Wake up: 6:30/7:00 amBreakfastPlay Date/ActivityNap: 12:00 pm – 3:00 pmPlay-time while mom cooks dinnerDinner: 6:00 pmBedtime: 7:30pm But changing time zones, running around visiting people, and not to mention not having your own house can throw all of that off. I have to hang it to my kid- for needing her naps- she champs it when she needs to and doesn’t get naps. When we were in Virginia …

Traveling with Small Children and Stress

We fly often with my daughter. That’s not an exaggeration. She has been on 28 flights, to 3 international countries, and to 3 different states. I wouldn’t consider us a pro- but pretty dang close. A few weeks ago we flew to my home state of VIRGINIA! (ps- I lived NOWHERE near DC haha) to surprise my mom for her 60th birthday. This was the second time I was flying solo with my daughter- the first time being when she was 2 months old- and even then I only had 1 flight out of 4 alone. But this happened to …

What is Self Care?

We live in a day and age where we are ALWAYS on the go. Rushing around from point A to point B. Burnout is on a rise, and doing more is considered a badge of honor. Rarely do you meet people who have “free” time or lack of schedules. Here’s the problem with that- if you overcommit, and are in a constant state of rushing around from activities, meetings, chores- then you’re blood pressure tends to be higher, which elevates your cortisol levels, which slows your metabolism, affects your sleep, and causes a lot of other issues in our body. …

Your Missing Link

I can attribute one single thing to the success of my health and fitness journey. The one thing that kept me from yoyoing, from starting and stopping over and over again. That one thing is SO simple and yet so powerful. It wasn’t a workout routine, it wasn’t eating the right foods, it wasn’t counting calories or hitting the gym. This post may contain affiliate links- I earn a portion of the proceeds, but it costs you nothing on your end, it just helps me feed my family It was personal development. 10 minutes a day of diving into a …

How do You make Time to workout?

Ahhh such a good question and also an excuse. If you’re like me- you used every excuse in the book to avoid working out at home. i don’t have room i don’t have equipment i can’t focus i don’t have the motivation my kids get in the way But if you’re also like me- the reality of driving to a Gym and using a membership was also full of excuses: All the classes I want to do are during nap time I can’t wake up early enough to go before the baby wakes up it’s took late after work to …

Hi, I’m Lauren

Hey guys! I’m Lauren. Since you stumbled upon my little blogging space I figured an introduction would be nice! I’m the wife to an active duty Air Force member, mom to a 2 year old daughter this april, and puppy mama to two small breed rescues. I was born and raised on the east coast and I miss it every single day. You never realize how much you take for granted the area you live in, until you’re in a completely different cultural environment. We’ve lived in NorCal (not to be confused with beautiful beaches and sunny CA) for 5 …
